What to Expect on Treatment Day
Structural Assessment & Vector Mapping: Your provider will evaluate your facial bone structure, identify areas of fat pad atrophy or skin laxity, take baseline digital photographs, and map out precise needle or cannula injection vectors.
Comfort & Numbing Protocol: A topical prescription numbing agent is applied, and the Sculptra® reconstituted suspension contains lidocaine to ensure your procedure is smooth and comfortable throughout.
Precision Injection Technique (20 to 30 Minutes): Using fine needles or smooth micro-cannulas, your provider places micro-droplets of Poly-L-Lactic Acid into the deep dermal or sub-dermal planes across key structural anchor points (temples, mid-face, cheekbones, jawline).
The “Temporary Fluid Volume” Phase: Immediately post-injection, your face will look instantly plumped and restored. It is important to know that this immediate volume is primarily sterile water and lidocaine from the reconstituted formula. Over the next 24 to 48 hours, your body absorbs this liquid vector, temporarily returning your face close to baseline until your natural collagen synthesis kicks in over the next 4 to 8 weeks.
Post-Care Guidance & The “Rule of 5” Massage: Your provider will perform the mandatory initial facial massage immediately after injections to distribute the poly-L-lactic-acid particles evenly and demonstrate how to perform your home massage protocol.
