Your Pre-Treatment Microneedling Guide

Collagen Induction Therapy for Smooth, Radiant, and Youthful Skin

Advanced Micro-Channel Technology

At beyond|AESTHETICS, we view skin rejuvenation as a process of structural restoration. Microneedling creates thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin, triggering the production of fresh collagen and elastin. Proper pre-treatment preparation ensures a calm skin barrier, while post-care compliance protects your healing tissue for maximum radiant results.

Preparing Your Microneedling Treatment

7 Days Before

  • Avoid Blood Thinners: Discontinue over-the-counter blood-thinning supplements (Aspirin, Ibuprofen/Advil, Fish Oil, Vitamin E) to minimize bruising and bleeding during your session.

  • Pause Tanning & Sun Exposure:Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning products to prevent skin sensitivity.

3 to 5 Days Before Treatment

  • Pause Active Topicals: Stop using retinoids (Retin-A, retinol), AHA/BHA acids (glycolic, salicylic), benzoyl peroxide, and harsh scrubs.

  • Check Skin Integrity: Ensure the treatment zone is free of active acne breakouts, cold sores, open wounds, or rashes.

    Day of Treatment

    • Arrive Clean & Bare: Cleanse your skin thoroughly and arrive free of makeup, lotions, and sunscreens.

    • Shave Target Area (If Applicable): Male patients treating the face or neck should shave the morning of the appointment.

You may be adding Biological Boosters to your Microneedling Treatment (PRP / PRFM / PDGF)<

When creating thousands of micro-channels during microneedling, introducing a biological booster turns standard collagen induction into a regenerative power treatment:

    • PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma): Soaks deep into open micro-channels to deliver an immediate surge of growth factors, calming redness fast and speeding up early cell turnover.

    • PRFM (Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix): Forms a natural gel scaffold that locks platelets in place, releasing growth factors continuously over 7 to 14 days for extended collagen building and deep structural repair.

    • PDGF (Recombinant Human PDGF): A high-potency, pure growth factor protein (PDGF-BB) engineered to trigger fibroblast migration and new blood vessel formation—no blood draw required.

What to Expect During Your Visit

    • Facial Assessment & Mapping: Your provider will analyze your facial dynamics, volume distribution, and bone structure to curate a bespoke treatment plan.

    • Comfort-First Application: Topical numbing cream is applied for comfort. Most JUVÉDERM® formulations also contain built-in lidocaine to make injections smooth and comfortable.

    • Precision Injection: Your provider will carefully place filler using fine needles or ultra-smooth micro-cannulas to shape, lift, and restore volume.

    Microneedling FAQ's

How does Microneedling work, and what does adding PRP do?

Microneedling uses ultra-fine, sterile needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin. This triggers your body’s natural healing response to produce fresh collagen and elastin. When you add PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), concentrated growth factors drawn from your own blood are applied directly over these open micro-channels. PRP absorbs deep into the dermis, accelerating cellular repair, reducing downtime, and boosting overall skin radiance.

How many treatments will I need, and when will I see results?

While you will notice a healthy, luminous glow within 1 to 2 weeks, collagen remodeling builds progressively beneath the surface. For optimal smoothing of fine lines, enlarged pores, or acne scarring, we recommend a series of 3 to 6 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Peak collagen density and skin tightening typically appear 3 to 6 months after completing your series.

What is the recovery process like, and when can I wear makeup again?

Immediately after treatment, your skin will look and feel like a mild to moderate sunburn, with light redness, warmth, and slight tightness. Most initial redness and swelling settle within 24 to 48 hours, followed by mild flaking over the first few days. You must keep your face completely clean and free of makeup or unapproved skincare for at least 12 hours (and leave PRP on your skin for 6 hours post-treatment before washing gently).

    Look and feel your best.
