Your Pre-Treatment Botox® Guide

Everything You Need to Know Before Your Appointment

Smooth lines, balanced expressions, and results that actually last.

At beyond|AESTHETICS, we view neuromodulator treatments not as quick fixes, but as an art form rooted in clinical precision and facial balance. Dynamic wrinkles—like forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet—form from repetitive muscle movements over time. While standard approaches often under-dose or treat areas in isolation, we believe in harmonizing the entire upper face to deliver natural, long-lasting outcomes. Every treatment in our office is completely personalized to your unique anatomy, facial dynamics, and personal aesthetic goals. Guided by our 64-Unit Full-Face Standard—the exact FDA-approved, on-label dosage to treat all three upper facial zones—we protect your facial symmetry without over-freezing, ensuring you look naturally refreshed, balanced, and confident at every step of your skin journey.

The 64-Unit Standard: Why We Do Things Differently

We believe in results that actually last. Treating the entire upper face as an interconnected unit ensures balanced, harmonious, and natural-looking rejuvenation.

  • 3 Target Areas: Forehead lines, frown lines (glabella), and crow’s feet.
  • Full-Dose Longevity: Prevents premature wear-off caused by under-dosing.
  • Customized Mapping: Personalized to your natural facial movement.

Preparing for Your Botox Appointment

7 Days Before

  • Pause Blood Thinners: Avoid over-the-counter blood thinners and supplements including Aspirin, Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), Aleve, St. John’s Wort, Omega-3 / Fish Oil, Vitamin E, and Ginkgo Biloba. (Do not stop prescription medications without consulting your physician).

  • Avoid Alcohol: Refrain from consuming alcohol for 3–7 days prior to treatment to minimize bruising risks.

2–3 Days Before

  • Pause Actives: Temporarily stop active topical ingredients on the area (e.g., Retin-A, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid).

  • Check Skin Health: If you develop a cold sore, skin infection, rash, or active breakout in the treatment area, contact us to reschedule.

Day of Treatment

  • Clean Skin: Arrive with a clean face, free of heavy makeup, face oils, or lotions.

  • Hydrate & Fuel: Eat a light meal/snack and stay well-hydrated prior to your visit.

What to Expect on Treatment Day

  •  Intelligent Skin Mapping

We begin with an in-depth consultation to analyze your dynamic facial movement, ensuring your 64-unit standard or customized dose is strategically placed for natural movement.

  • The Treatment Experience

The injections take only 10 to 15 minutes. We use ultra-fine needles and precise techniques to maximize comfort.

  •  Immediate Look

You may experience mild red bumps at the injection sites, similar to small mosquito bites. These typically subside within 15–30 minutes before you leave our office.

Recommended Pre-Botox Home Care

Preparing your skin matrix 1 to 2 weeks before your injection appointment helps strengthen fragile micro-vessels, builds collagen resilience, and ensures smooth, long-lasting dynamic line reduction.

FAQs About BOTOX Injections

What if I accidentally took Ibuprofen or Aspirin 3 days before my appointment?

Don’t panic—there is no need to cancel or reschedule your appointment! Blood-thinning medications and supplements (like Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Fish Oil, or Vitamin E) do not affect how Botox works or your ultimate results. They simply increase the temporary risk of mild pinpoint bruising or slight swelling at the injection sites.

What to do:

Just mention it to your practitioner during your consultation. We can take extra clinical precautions, such as applying cold compresses right after injection or using topical Arnica, to keep any potential bruising to a minimum.

Can I get Botox if I have an upcoming big event in 3 days?

We recommend scheduling your Botox treatment at least 2 to 3 weeks prior to any major event (like a wedding, photo shoot, or vacation).

Why?

  • Time to take effect: Botox takes 3 to 7 days to begin working, with full, smooth results settling in at the 14-day mark.

  • Recovery buffer: Giving yourself a 2-week buffer allows any minor post-injection bumps or small bruises to clear completely so your skin looks radiant and camera-ready.

Will I look bruised or bumpy immediately after my treatment?

Immediately after your injections, you will have small, elevated red bumps at the injection sites—they look very similar to tiny mosquito bites.

What to expect:

  • First 15–30 Minutes: The small bumps typically subside entirely before you even leave our studio as the liquid naturally absorbs into the tissue.

  • Minor Bruising: While rare, slight pinpoint bruising can occur near delicate areas like the crow’s feet. If a small bruise develops, it can easily be covered with light makeup after 24 hours and fades within a few days. You can return to your normal daily activities right after stepping out of the office!

Look and feel your best.
