Your Pre-Treatment Laser Hair Removal Guide

Smooth, Precise, and Clinical Follicle Reduction

Targeted Precision & Lasting Smoothness

At beyond|AESTHETICS, we utilize advanced laser technology to target hair follicles at the root, disabling growth while preserving the surrounding skin. Because hair grows in distinct cycles, achieving complete, smooth coverage requires a strategic series of treatments. Every session is calibrated to your skin type and hair density to deliver safe, effective, and lasting results.

Preparing Your Skin For Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment

4–6 Weeks Before

  • No Alternative Hair Removal Methods: Do not wax, pluck, tweeze, sugar, or use depilatory creams (e.g., Nair).

  • Preserve the Root: The hair follicle and root must remain intact beneath the skin for the laser to effectively target and destroy it.

Days Leading Up to Treatment

  • Keep Skin in Its Most Natural State: The treatment area must be completely free of active sun exposure, tans, sunburns, rashes, or skin irritation.

  • Avoid Artificial & Natural Tanning: Stop using self-tanners, tanning beds, or direct sun exposure prior to your session to prevent pigment complications or burns.

  • Pause Active Topicals: Avoid harsh exfoliants, active scrubs, or irritating skincare ingredients in the treatment area for a few days prior.

Day of Treatment

  • Shave the Treatment Area: Patients must shave the area being treated the day before or the day of the appointment. (Do not leave stubble or long hair on the surface).

  • Arrive with Clean Skin: Ensure the treatment zone is thoroughly clean and free of body lotions, oils, deodorants, perfumes, or heavy makeup.

Recommended Pre-Laser Hair Removal Home Care

Preparing your skin before laser treatment ensures your skin matrix is calm, uninflamed, and deeply hydrated—maximizing laser efficiency while minimizing the risk of adverse pigment reactions.

FAQ

How many sessions will I need?

We typically recommend a series of 6 treatments for most patients. Because hair grows in distinct cycles and responds at varying speeds across different body areas, multiple sessions are required to target all follicles during their active growth phase.

How much hair reduction can I expect after each visit?

It is typical to see a 10% to 20% reduction in hair per treatment. Over the course of your treatment series, you will notice significant cumulative reduction, finer hair texture, and much slower regrowth.

Do I need to shave before my appointment?

Yes. Patients must shave the treatment area the day before or the day of their appointment. Shaving leaves the hair root intact under the skin while removing surface hair, which prevents surface burns and allows the laser energy to focus directly into the follicle.

Is it normal for my skin to be red or bumpy afterward?

Yes. Immediately after treatment, it is completely normal to experience mild redness and small bumps around the hair follicles (follicular edema). The area may also feel like a mild sunburn. These reactions are temporary and usually resolve within 1 to 2 days. You can apply aloe vera or a cold pack for soothing relief.

Look and feel your best.
