Your Pre-Treatment JUVÉDERM® Filler Guide

Natural balancing and lasting volume all begin at b|A.

Why We Treat the Face as a Whole

At beyond|AESTHETICS, we view facial rejuvenation through the lens of overall balance rather than isolated fixes. As we age, volume loss rarely occurs in just one spot. Our core philosophy centers on Structural Harmony, restoring your face’s natural architecture, preserving balanced proportions, and delivering a seamless, naturally refreshed outcome.

The beyond|AESTHETICS Standard

The b|A Philosophy: Precision Facial Architecture over Single-Area Filling

01 / Precise Mapping

Anatomical Precision

We don't chase isolated wrinkles. We target precise structural points across the face to address the root causes of volume loss.

02 / Foundation First

Lift Before You Fill

Restoring mid-face structural support first creates a natural lift, preventing the over-filled look that comes from treating single lines in isolation.

03 / Unified Healing

Consolidated Recovery

Treating balancing points in a single, cohesive session ensures complete facial symmetry while consolidating mild swelling and downtime into one unified healing window.

Preparing Your Dermal Filler Treatment

7 Days Before

  • Avoid Blood Thinners: Discontinue over-the-counter blood-thinning medications and supplements, including Aspirin, Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), Aleve, St. John’s Wort, Omega-3 / Fish Oil, Vitamin E, and Ginkgo Biloba. (Do not stop taking prescription blood thinners without consulting your physician.)

  • Avoid Alcohol: Stop consuming alcoholic beverages at least 3 to 7 days prior to your appointment to minimize bruising risks.

2 to 3 Days Before

  • Pause Active Topicals: Temporarily pause active skincare ingredients in the treatment zone (e.g., Retin-A, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid).

  • Skin Health Check: If you develop an active breakout, cold sore, or skin irritation in the target area, please contact our clinic to reschedule.

    Day of Treatment

    • Arrive Clean: Come with a clean face free of heavy foundation, concealers, or face oils.

    • Stay Hydrated & Fed: Eat a light meal and drink plenty of water prior to your appointment.

What to Expect During Your Visit

      • Facial Assessment & Mapping: Your provider will analyze your facial dynamics, volume distribution, and bone structure to curate a bespoke treatment plan.

      • Comfort-First Application: Topical numbing cream is applied for comfort. Most JUVÉDERM® formulations also contain built-in lidocaine to make injections smooth and comfortable.

      • Precision Injection: Your provider will carefully place filler using fine needles or ultra-smooth micro-cannulas to shape, lift, and restore volume.

      FAQ Juvéderm Fillers

What is Juvéderm, and how does it work?

Juvéderm is a family of injectable dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring sugar molecule in the body that attracts and retains moisture. When injected, the smooth gel adds immediate volume beneath the skin to restore lost cheek structure, smooth deep wrinkles (like smile lines), or plump thin lips.

How long do Juvéderm results typically last?

Results generally last between 6 months and 2 years, depending on the specific product formulation and treatment location:

      • Lips & smile lines (Volbella, Ultra XC): ~6 to 12 months due to high muscle mobility.

      • Cheeks & chin (Voluma XC): Up to 2 years, as deeper structural injections degrade more slowly.

      • Metabolism: Individual factors like age, metabolic rate, and muscle movement also affect breakdown speed.

Is the procedure painful, and is there downtime?

Discomfort is minimal. Most Juvéderm formulations contain lidocaine (a local anesthetic) mixed directly into the gel, and providers usually apply a topical numbing cream beforehand.

      • Downtime: Minimal. You can return to normal activities immediately.

      • Side Effects: Temporary swelling, redness, firmness, or bruising at the injection site typically resolves within 3 to 7 days.

      • Reversibility: Because it is HA-based, it can be quickly dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase if needed.

      Look and feel your best.
