Your Pre-Treatment Injectable PRP, PRFM, PDGF Guide

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM), & Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF)

Regenerative Architecture at beyond|AESTHETICS

At beyond|AESTHETICS, we utilize autologous biologics (PRP and PRFM) and synthetic recombinant growth factors (PDGF) to trigger deep structural repair. By concentrating signaling proteins, cytokines, and growth factor matrices, these therapies stimulate fibroblast migration, extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis, and neovascularization. Proper pre-treatment preparation optimizes your biological sample, stabilizes vascular integrity, and minimizes post-injection bruising.

Preparing for Your Appointment

avoid alcohol

7 Days Before

  • Discontinue Blood Thinners & Anti-Inflammatories: Avoid over-the-counter blood-thinning medications and supplements—such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), Aleve, Fish Oil / Omega-3, Vitamin E, and St. John’s Wort—to minimize bruising at draw and injection sites. (Do not stop taking prescription blood thinners without consulting your physician.)
  • Pause NSAIDs (Crucial for PRP/PRFM): Anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs like Ibuprofen/Naproxen) inhibit platelet function. Discontinue NSAIDs 7 days prior to treatment so your platelets retain peak bio-activity.
  • Limit Alcohol Intake: Discontinue alcohol consumption 48 to 72 hours prior to your appointment to prevent vascular dilation and excessive bruising.

2–3 Days Before

  • Hydrate Intensely: Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water daily for at least 48 hours before your session. Superior hydration significantly expands plasma volume, optimizing the blood draw yield and quality for PRP/PRFM processing.
  • Pause Active Topicals: Discontinue Retin-A, retinoids, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and mechanical exfoliants on the treatment area to keep the dermal barrier calm.
  • Maintain Healthy Diet: Eat clean, nutrient-dense meals low in processed fats to ensure a clear, lipid-free plasma separation during centrifugation.

Day of Treatment

  • Arrive Clean & Bare: Thoroughly cleanse the face, under-eye, or targeted injection zone. Arrive without makeup, moisturizers, or heavy creams.
  • Eat a Balanced Meal: Eat a moderate meal 1 to 2 hours prior to your visit to prevent lightheadedness during the routine blood draw.
  • Drink Water Prior to Appointment: Drink 16–24 oz of water right before arriving to ensure quick, comfortable vein access for your draw.

Recommended Pre-PRP / PRFM / PDGF Home Care

Preparing your dermal matrix 1 to 2 weeks prior to regenerative injections strengthens micro-vessels, minimizes post-draw bruising, and provides an optimal cellular environment for growth factor activation.

Pre-PRP and PRFM Skincare Essentials at beyond|AESTHETICS

Alastin Skincare® Regenerating Skin Nectar

ECM Pre-Conditioning & Anti-Bruise

Why use pre-treatment: Powered by TriHex Technology®, applying this 1–2 weeks prior clears damaged extracellular matrix proteins, strengthens micro-vessel walls, and prepares the tissue to accept autologous growth factors efficiently.

Shop Alastin Skin Nectar

SkinMedica® HA5® Rejuvenating Hydrator

Tissue Matrix Hydration

Why use pre-treatment: Deeply saturates five forms of hyaluronic acid into dermal layers, ensuring the injection canvas (especially delicate under-eye or tear trough skin) is hydrated and resilient before needle or cannula placement.

Epionce Daily Shield Tinted SPF 50

Barrier Shield & UV Defense

Why use pre-treatment: Skin must be free of active UV inflammation or sunburn prior to receiving micro-injections to avoid post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) at puncture sites.

Injectable PRP, PRFM, PDGF's FAQs

1. What is the main difference between PRP, PRFM, and PDGF?

  • PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma): Isolates concentrated platelets from your own blood sample suspended in liquid plasma, providing an immediate release of biological growth factors to kickstart tissue repair.

  • PRFM (Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix): Converts PRP into a gel-like fibrin scaffold that protects the platelets, allowing them to remain active and release growth factors slowly over 7 to 14 days for extended biological regeneration.

  • PDGF (Platelet-Derived Growth Factor): Uses a bio-engineered, pure recombinant growth factor protein (PDGF-BB) that delivers a precise, high-potency regenerative signal without requiring a blood draw.

How many sessions will I need, and when do results become visible?

To achieve optimal collagen density, tear-trough restoration, or skin tightening, a series of 3 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart is recommended. You will notice early skin brightness and hydration within 2 to 3 weeks, while peak collagen synthesis, skin firming, and structural remodeling develop between 6 and 12 weeks post-treatment.

Why must I avoid taking anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medications?

PRP and PRFM rely directly on your body’s natural, temporary inflammatory signaling cascade to activate platelets and recruit stem cells to the target area. NSAIDs (such as Ibuprofen, Advil, and Aleve) block platelet activation and weaken growth factor release. You must discontinue NSAIDs for 7 days before and 3 to 5 days after your appointment. (Tylenol may be used for mild discomfort if needed).

Look and feel your best.
