Essential Post-Peel Guidelines
Strictly Follow Your Provided Take-Home Kit: Use only the post-peel gentle cleanser, repair cream, and broad-spectrum physical sunscreen provided in your official VI Peel® Take-Home Kit for the first 7 days. Avoid all other cleansers, toners, or heavy creams.
Absolute “No-Picking” Rule: Never pick, pull, scratch, or force peeling skin to shed. Forcing dry skin off early tears fresh underlying tissue, causing raw spots, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), or permanent scarring. Allow all skin to slough off naturally. If a piece of peeling skin is dangling, you may trim it carefully at the surface using clean, small scissors.
Avoid Heat, Sweat, and Strenuous Exercise (First 72 Hours): Refrain from heavy workouts, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and hot showers for at least 72 hours following treatment. Sweat trapped beneath peeling skin causes blistering, severe irritation, and hyperpigmentation.
Strict Physical Sun Protection: Avoid direct sun exposure during your active peeling phase. Apply your provided physical mineral SPF 50+ every morning and reapply every 2 hours if near windows or outdoors. Wear a wide-brimmed hat when outside.
Pause Active Skincare, Acids, and Scrubs: Discontinue all active skincare ingredients—including Retin-A/retinoids, AHA/BHA exfoliants, Vitamin C serums, glycolic/salicylic acids, facial sponges, and scrubs—until peeling is completely finished and skin sensitivity has fully resolved (typically Days 7 to 10).
Hold Makeup Application: Keep your skin free of foundation, powders, or concealers while active peeling is underway. Makeup can be safely resumed once all shedding has naturally finished (usually Days 6 to 7).
